About Us

Our weaving mill GG Delabie nv thanks it’s name to Gerard Gentiel Delabie who started as a one-man business in 1946. Gerard Gentiel started with one weaving loom and then gradually expanded production capacity. His son-in-law Marcel Valcke took over the company from Gerard Gentiel and today the family’s third generation owns and manages the mill. Through the years the company has gradually expanded to a world-famous enterprise.

Since the start, our mill respects the old techniques and imitates them by using machine technology. What we make comes very close to the hand-woven velvet creations of the 18th century, like velours de Gênes or velours de Lyon, a fascinating Jacquard weave. This requires a great deal of knowledge of everyone involved in the development process. Due to both the semi-artisan approach and the limited number of mills producing these fabrics, the end result creates exclusive fabrics.

Throughout its history weaving mill GG Delabie nv has been responsible for many prestigious residential as well as project initiatives. Our fabrics can be found in homes of people like Oliver Stone, Steven Spielberg,… Besides this we have also realized projects as: the upholstery for the Orient Express, 19th and 20th century carriage upholstery, the restoration of the seats of the Vienna Opera house, a wall covering in the White House, exclusive yacht projects and some orders requested by art galleries just to name a few.
